Have you ever lost track of time on a deep dive into an obscure topic or wished you could explore a subject that always fascinated you?
Hugo mentorships connect you with academic experts to help you take learning to the next level. In the process, you develop a unique relationship with your mentor who can open up new paths on your intellectual journey.
Hugo mentorships provide the optimal level of flexibility and structure to make the most of your experience.
Tell us more about your academic interests and possible project ideas. Once we receive your application, we will follow up with a phone call to make sure we understand your goals.
We will match you with a mentor who can best support you in your journey and send you a profile with information about his or her areas of expertise and accomplishments.
You'll have a complimentary introductory call with your mentor and a Hugo Program Coach to explore the direction of your mentorship and possible project ideas. Most people find that they can't wait to get started!
In your first meeting, you and your mentor will outline your objectives, meeting agendas, assignments and a culminating project, paper or goal for your mentorship.
You'll get feedback from your mentor at the midpoint of your mentorship, which is a great time to reflect on your growth and make any adjustments. After you complete your mentorship, you will also receive a brief evaluation as well as possible suggestions for next steps.
You may be surprised by the doors that open up to you upon completion of your project. In the past our students have been invited to their mentors’ campuses to present their findings or have used their research as a foundation for new projects, philanthropy or activism. Many mentees enjoy their Hugo experience so much that they sign up for an additional semester to build on their work.
Hugo Mentors have helped eager learners explore everything from chemistry to classics. The beauty of a Hugo Mentorship is that it is completely customizable to the mentee and every project is different.
